Hi Caroline,
I find it so hard to believe that over a year ago Bowser was the same cat I adopted who hide for 2 weeks behind a couch in my basement. Nowadays you can find him lounging on the floor in the kitchen; basking in the sun, lying on the stairs, lying on a window sill, or - his favorite spot - lounging on one of our couches, making sure to take up as much room as possible.
He has become the biggest cuddle monster, never missing an opportunity to jump on your lap and purr to his heart content. That or he sits behind you on the ledge of the couch and flaps his tail around your neck or in your face. He is incredibly playful and has grown to have quite the idiosyncrasies... He is very vocal when it comes to being fed. If he is hungry, he lets you know by cutting in and out of your legs and attempting to lead you to the basement (which is where he is fed). He meows and purrs and runs back and forth to the stairs, turns and looks at you as if to say "Follow me!!!". Once you start to head downstairs he flies down those stairs, leads you to the container of food, and then leads you back to his bowl where he waits - very impatiently...
He has also learned how to tell us he wants to go outside - even though he knows he is a house cat. Whenever our dog Milton needs to pee, he rings a bell next to the patio doors so we let him out. Bowser has taken note, and he sits by the door and rings the bell, looking back at us in hopes that one day he will be allowed out. He's still waiting...
Finally, he gets along great with our dog - who is a very energetic Jack Russel Miniature Pincher mix. They play fight like brothers, and if Milton ever pushes him too far, Bowser smacks him in the face. But since our dog is relentless when it comes to playing, not even ten minutes later they are back at it again. Bowser has become this amazing addition to our little family, and I can't imagine living without him. Here are a couple of pictures for you to show you just how awesome our "little" man is...
