A year ago on Demeber 1st these two babies were adopted after being found in the freezing rain, next to a busy road nursing on each other out of starvation. Here is their one year update, far from where they were rescued from;
"Wow, I can't believe it's already been a year!
Kimmi and Gunther are doing great. They are healthy, happy, playful, social, loving cats! Kimmi is quite independent and doesn't like to be held much but loves sleeping on your hip or under your blanket, and when she wants your attention, she demands it. Gunther is such an easy-going dude who loves being held and cuddling. They both love treats, cat-nip, chasing their toys, and hanging out with any visitors.
They have fortunately stopped suckling on one another! (It stopped 3-4 months ago, approx.) Gunther does this funny thing where he suckles on himself though - when he's content with you petting him, or when he's ready to sleep, his little tongue is on his leg/paw and he suckles away. It's the weirdest/cutest/most intriguing thing. I guess it's a self-soothing behavior, much like a baby sucking one's thumb.
I've attached a few pictures! They both have really funny little personalities and I know I made a great decision, having them a part of my home."

Ruby-Sue had a pretty big surprise when she stepped outside this morning for her pre-breakfast piddle. At only 3-4 months old, this is the first time she has ever experience this cold, white, wet marvel we call snow. It was a pretty fascinating experience for her to taken in, especially because i don't have language to communicate - it's snow! - to her. Or that it means Christmas is coming, if only she know what she has to look forward to! I would like to thank, each and every single person (you know who you are), who has donated towards her medical care and allowed her to be alive today to experience this. Each update and picture of her, each experience and progress she has everyday, please know it is entirely thanks to you. Eleven Eleven is just here to provide the care, without you we would not be able to. Thank you, on behalf of Ruby-Sue and every animal you have saved by supporting us. If Ruby-Sue only knew how many people are behind her, and hopefully at her meet and greet on Dec. 10th at Bailey Blu Pet Boutique she will get to thank you in person! |

Petie Puce has loved and loss, at 11 years old she has learned a lot about life. If she could talk, she would probably have a whole lot of wisdom to share with us. Maybe she could save us all some time, and tell us what life is really all about. She would have stories of adventure, love, courage, loss, dreams and accomplishments. She is a wise-old-lady who has found herself homeless, when her last companion passed away and left her without a best friend. Petite Puce is no regular-dog, she knows more about life than most of us. Whoever adopts her will be one lucky person, unlike having to teach a puppy all about the world, Petite Puce has been there, done that and has a lot to teach you instead.

An elderly woman surrendered this lovely turtle to us over the weekend. Much to her surprise, the woman received this Red-eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans) from a friend's will after they passed away. She has been living in a bucket for the past couple of months. This turtle was purchased sometime in the 1970's-- making her something like 35-40 years old! When properly cared for, sliders can reach nearly 50 years of age, and reach shell lengths of 10-12". Despite this, they are the bred by the millions and sold in pet shops (usually when they are only the size of a toonie) to unsuspecting animal lovers. She might just spend her golden turtle years within her current foster home instead of being moved around again (however, if there are any turtle-lovers out there who are interested in giving her a home, don't hesitate to apply!). Of course, she needs a name now that she's in the rescue: Any suggestions? |
